Meeting Chloë, mother from Angers - France
Living in a charming French village near Angers, Chloë is a housewife taking care of her two beloved children Hortense and Gustave with much joy.
Combining traditional values with a modern lifestyle, she embodies French motherhood at its best!
Sitting in her beautiful living room with her two darlings, Chloë kindly took time to answer our questions!
WHAT HAS THE LOCKDOWN TAUGHT YOU?
Staying indoors has never been much of an issue for me. I have always been a home bird and enjoy taking care of my house.
However before the quarantine, I felt pressured to run about all the time. I was constantly searching high and low and shopping for things, which in the end, are far from necessary...
With the lockdown, I came to realize that happiness lies just in front of us and always has been!
Spending quality time with my family, playing with my children and taking care of myself by gardening or just sunbathing under a clear blue sky, fulfills me! In the end, I do not need much more to be happy!
WHAT ARE YOU MOST GRATEFUL FOR?
I feel privileged to be able to stay at home to watch my children grow.
I would also like to express my deep gratitude to health care workers for their constant efforts since the beginning of the virus.
I also wish to thank all those involved from near and far who keep our country running in this difficult period.
WHAT IS THE FAVORITE ACTIVITY/CRAFT YOU HAVE SHARED WITH YOUR CHILDREN SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE LOCKDOWN?
With a single doubt, cooking! The kids love to help prepare the meals. Even if it means four times more cleaning and tidying up after them, it is a pleasure to make them take part.
Hortense and I also like to make bouquets with the flowers of our garden. With Gustave we enjoy practicing baby gym together. Nothing formal, we just make fun movements. He loves somersaults. In French we say "galipette"!
CAN YOU SHARE A FAVORITE RECIPE FROM YOUR COUNTRY?
La brioche tressée (French braided brioche) and the fondant au chocolat (French molten chocolate cake). This makes two recipes but I simply could not choose!
My children love them both. We frequently bake them for our goûter (traditional French tea time).
WHICH INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST AT THE MOMENT?
I love @daphnemoreau who shares her daily life in Paris. She has great taste, she is always positive and full of wonderful ideas! She even managed to make me take up fitness again!
Would you like to add anything?
Yes, I would like to finish with one of Christian Dior's quote "My childhood, I remember it as a time of happiness, tranquility and peace where all was made for the mere joy of living!"
This sentence sums up what I would like my kids to remember from their own youth. I will then be sure that my mission has been accomplished!
