Families' Christmas traditions : Thank you notes to Santa
Native Floridian, Mom and wife with a love for celebrations, decoration and exploring, Grace's favorite family holiday tradition is focused on gratitude. Her Thank you notes to Santa were initially launched by her daughter! Here is how it started and how you can reproduce it with your children!
"I've always taught my oldest, Margaret, to write a thank you note. It can take the form of a drawing, or now that she is almost 6, more precise words of gratitude.
One Christmas when she was almost 3, we were setting cookies out for Santa (and carrots for the reindeer) on the designated blue and white plate from my grandmother that we use each year. Suddenly Margaret stopped and asked if we could write a thank you note to Santa since after all he was working so hard and traveling so far to give her presents. That night she drew a little picture while I transcribed her note.
Each year she has done some form of this and even wrapped up a little red and green necklace for Santa to give to Mrs. Claus. last year. And magically, each year, Santa writes back, though no word yet on why his penmanship looks like mine! I look forward to Catherine joining in on this and love this little tradition my sweet girl started!"
