HOW TO DRESS LIKE PRINCESS CHARLOTTE

Princess Charlotte of Wales, daughter of William and Catherine, Princes of Wales, holds a very special place in our hearts.

For one of her very first official trip, a ten day visit as part of a royal tour to Canada in 2016, Princess Charlotte graciously wore an elegant light lavender blue smocked dress with coral shade embroideries upon the bodice. This dress was created by our designer in our very own atelier and gifted it to the royal family by one of our former British partners. We could not have been more honoured. In the video above, you will see Nathalie hand smocking the dress. She is embroidering upon the tightly pleated fabric. Entirely handmade, smocks require great patience, regularity and meticulous gestures. The eye guides the movements of the hand.

PRINCESS CHARLOTTE STYLING GUIDE

Dresses :

The Princess is almost always featured wearing traditional smocked dresses. Her mother, the very elegant Duchess Kate Middleton of Cambridge, seems to prefer the most classic version with a Peter Pan collar, a bow sash, a smocked bodice and short puffed sleeves. This corresponds to our Cerise dress. 

Charlotte is most often seen wearing floral print such as Liberty of London dresses as well as pastel blues.

Coats :

Once again the royal family tends to go for high quality sober designs. Princess Charlotte was twice featured wearing Marae Merino wool coats handmade in Spain. Timeless, they are a winter must-have. 

Charlotte wore a burgundy one for her first day at nursery with a Cath Kidson backpack! She was pictured in it smiling and sitting on the steps of Kensington palace. It was the most classic style, the double-breasted Peter Pan collar version with two pocket flaps, deep cuffs, chic heraldic buttons as well as a decorative tab on the back. For Christmas this year, she had the same one in deep green!

Shoes:

Charlotte often wears Mary Janes which are a perfect match with smocked dresses.

Ananas offers very sweet leather ones. The Spanish made Lucine shoes are also chic. And of course, La Coqueta shoes, very popular in the UK, are very Princess Charlotte like too.

For a more casual look, Charlotte had also been seen wearing laceless slip-on sneakers by Hampton Canvas. 

Matching outfits :

We have noticed that Princess Charlotte was often dressed in coordinated look with her mother and brothers. Not an identical outfit but similar shades or prints! A sweet way to highlight their family bond.
