A MOTHER'S LOVE : THE STORY OF EMMA
To introduce our new blog theme inspired by Valentine’s celebrations, we would like to share about the beautiful daughter and mother relationship between princess Emma Evalynn and Dania! A heart-warming example of the infinite power of love.

Had you always dreamed of having a little girl?
Yes,100%, without a doubt and never a slim hesitation! I wanted a baby girl I could teach, encourage, support and of course, dress up like a princess. A best friend, a confidant…
Emma’s story didn’t start when she was born, or when I became pregnant. It began in the deepest parts of my memory : in my own childhood days of playing with homemade dolls and looking after my sister… Being a mother was a long time coming for me.
In my head, I envisioned us building a bond from baby, to child, to young lady and even when she grows up to be a strong, independent woman!
Emma is a dream come true, she is the fairytale I had in mind coming to life. To this day, I am still amazed and feel so lucky to be her mommy. Sometimes it feels like I wrote the script to the movie that I am now directing!

Were you very much a princess growing up and what have you kept from your own childhood?
I grew up in a small town and we didn’t have examples of fairytales or beautiful princesses… but the one aspect that I relate the most to a princess-like life, was the abundance of love that I was surrounded by. I was raised by my grandmother, along with my sister and cousins. We were looked after, protected and loved just like the children of a king. This is what I am recreating with all my heart for my own daughter. I’ve also seen my child-like personality come back to life now that I have Emma! We share the same curiosity and an eye for fashion.

What does it mean to dress her up and to make her look beautiful?
It’s an opportunity to create memories together, we share a passion that strengthens our bond and it’s so rewarding! Fashion is ‘our thing’, a mommy-daughter hobby that she will hopefully pass down to her own children someday.
Picking clothes, accessories, posing for the camera and sharing with our friends online is something that we are building together now. At the moment, she may not realize what it all means but when she’s a little older, I will explain it how it started. It’s a token of our love.
Beyond the dresses, watching her grow and documenting it through a lens, being able to look back and seeing her milestones means everything to me. I relish in the memories I have with each photoshoot, whether it’s in her room filled with all her favorite things or a place we traveled to. She is the reason behind my newfound passion for photography.

Can you tell us more about Emma’s wardrobe please?
Emma’s wardrobe is a magical place for both of us, it’s full of treasure! Dresses, shoes and handbags galore! All the accessories suited for a princess.
There is a story behind each one : From, why we chose it, the excitement of opening the package together and the feeling that takes over when she wears it for the first time.
When selecting the next piece of her collection, I ask myself... how will she feel in this? What emotions will it prompt? What does it convey? I’m always hoping the answers will be: happy, grateful, empowered, comfortable, unstoppable!
We usually start by having Emma choose the main piece, such as the dress or coat or shoes that she wants to wear that day and together we’ll find the pieces that compliment that. One of the things I look forward to the most is picking her hair accessories! They act as “crowns“ and I love how they complete an outfit! Crowns and capes and wings and twirly dresses are a big part of her closet.
I want Emma’s style to be a reflection of her true self, and to help her define who she wants to be. Although she may be too young to fully articulate her wants, needs and preferences, she absolutely lets me know when I’ve missed the mark.

What is one of your sweetest memories with Emma?
Tough question for me to answer, not one moment supersedes the other one as more special, but a few come to mind : the day she was born and I held and looked at her for the first time. The day she called me mom and honestly, every day I get home from work and she runs to me shouting “my mommy is here!”. It is pure joy!
It’s said that “the best gifts we can give our children are the roots to come back and wings to fly”? Does this resonate with you?
It definitely resonates with me. I do my best to teach her to lead her life with kindness, to be truthful and independent. As a parent, it’s my goal to give her the best foundation; a home where she feels safe to come back to as she pleases - but also prepare her to stand on her own, to be all that she needs to make it in this world, because we are not promised tomorrow.

What’s the biggest life lesson Emma has taught you?
She taught me courage. To strive for more. To see the world with new eyes, to realize it is filled with possibilities, almost magical. Even through the bad times, I seem to find something positive... She brought light and optimism into my life.
I’m constantly finding inspiration in the princess I dreamt about as a little girl. Now, my dream is my reality, and I get to call her my daughter. My beautiful Emma Evalynn.

A word of encouragement for mothers?
Treasure every moment, hug them as much as you can. Tell them you love them! Time goes by so fast, you think you'll have them forever but childhood slips away at incredible speed. It’s all worth it, even the most difficult parts of motherhood.
Try to do things that they will remember and cherish, bonding at an early age is important. Be present.
