To celebrate the birthday of our ambassador Charlotte the doll and that of Aurora, Madeleine Hall, co-founder of our Charlotte & Burlington family club as well as author of Burlington Bear, hosted the most charming ballet themed tea party.

Can you please talk about the party inspiration ?
My daughter Aurora practices ballet and our latest Charlotte and Burlington adventure takes place at the Opéra Garnier so a dance themed party seemed most fitting. We created a romantic chic ballerina ambiance with a slight grandmillenial vintage feel.
I was keen on a visually appealing overall look but the most important element was to allow the children to enjoy themselves. I therefore made sure to balance elegance with fun.
Can you talk about the party decor?
British weather being what it is, we hosted the party indoors but did bring in fresh bouquets straight from the garden to give a summery feel. We also added garlands of flowers intertwined with bows along the staircase.
With the chandelier above, it looked very grand and Aurora felt like a star ballerina coming down the steps! She made quite an entrance.
Easy to set up and always festive, we added balloons and ballerina bunting as well as paper slippers on the table.
We even included proper pointe shoes which made the little guests gasp as well as a true ballet costume.
For fun, we had traditional party hats and crackers too! In shades of pink and gold of course!
What about the table setting?
It was one of the party's highlight. We chose a romantic vintage floral print tablecloth and added a lace cloth on top. With the chintz tea cups and silver cutlery, it was particularly delicate and feminine.
We designed a sweet menu to match the theme. The children loved it because it made them feel as if they were in a proper tea-room.
The cakes and treats added bright colorful notes. It was definitely picture perfect!
Can you talk about the cake and treats?
We had the greatest fun with custom made cupcakes. We had four types : a cute teddy-bear representing Burlington of course, ballet shoes, tutus and flowers. In their silver moulds, not only did they look very pretty but they were equally tasty! A big success.
What about the outfit?
Aurora wore a Charlotte sy Dimby Netti dress! Named Dazzle pink, it was thinly striped with dazzling lace inserts. With its puffy skirt it had a perfect twirl. Very soft to the skin, she was very at ease and able to dance all party long!
What was your favourite moment of the party?
Seeing the children play with Charlotte and Burlington made me smile. The doll and bear were clearly guests of honour. The children made them sit at the table, wear party hats and sang happy birthday to Charlotte.
Can you please list the party vendors?
Yes, it was truly a team effort! Thank you to all the vendors and to my Mother for their help. The cakes were beautifully made by The Kitchen Mixer. They always go above and beyond to make my wishes come true. The banner and napkins are from MeriMeri. The Tutu is from JustBallet.
